A l'époque c'était le plus gros échantillon jamais ramène qui avait émerveillé les ( ) scientifiques.

Sauf qu'en 2019, la roche est ré-examinée et il s'avère que sa composition révèle qu'elle a été formée sur terre.
"In January 2019, research showed that a fragment (clast) embedded in Big Bertha has numerous characteristics that make it very likely to be a terrestrial (Earth) meteorite. Granite and quartz, which are commonly found on Earth but very rare to find on the Moon, were confirmed to exist in this fragment. "

Alors il a fallu trouver une explication, et voici ce que les ( ) scientifiques ont proposé :

- La terre primitive a été impactée par des meteorites.
- Les impacts ont été suffisamment puissants pour arracher des morceaux de la croûte terrestre et les propulser hors de l'atmosphère
- Par un heureux hasard, la lune se trouvait à ce moment sur la trajectoire des dits morceaux de roches
- Ceux-ci ont atterri sur la lunes
- Des milliers d'années plus tard, des américains atterrissent sur le site de l'impact de Big Bertha, toujours au hasard
- Et finalement ils décident de ramasser des roches au hasard et ce gros cailloux retourna enfin à la maison.

Big Bertha shows that Earth was impacted by asteroids massive enough to produce new meteors, and granitic rocks that make up Earth's continents were already forming. Geochemist Elizabeth Bell noted that the Moon might be a better place to look for ancient Earth rocks than Earth itself, as material erodes much slower on the Moon's surface than it does on Earth, and Kring suggested the discovery of Big Bertha's nature as an Earth-origin meteorite may compel other scientists to search through Apollo lunar samples.[6]"
