Il est issu directement de l'ancien provençal (occitan, période entre 900 et 1500) Lozoïc, Loïc correspondant aux formes françaises Loïs et Louis

Les Bretons qui ont donné un nom provençal à leurs gamins parce que "ça sonnait breton".
