If you're a fan of the original, I'd definitely recommend playing the first part of the Remake trilogy before diving into Rebirth.

If you care about the story and world-building, I'd still recommend playing Remake before diving into Rebirth. Although Rebirth opens with a recap, experiencing Remake first will immerse you far deeper in the lore and universe of FFVII.
