En conflit avec sa hiérarchie, Éric Dabène avait été interné huit jours en unité psychiatrique, sur ordre du préfet des Alpes-Maritimes… son employeur.

« Quand je suis sorti, j'étais une loque. Je ne pensais pas qu'une chose pareille puisse m'arriver, que ça puisse être possible dans un État de droit. Je ne souhaite ça à personne ! » Éric Dabène avait confié cet été son histoire au Point. Cet ingénieur divisionnaire et fonctionnaire de catégorie A +, âgé de 57 ans, avait été interné durant une semaine, entre le 9 et le 16 août, à l'unité psychiatrique du centre hospitalier La Fontonne d'Antibes, après un arrêté d'hospitalisation d'office pris une semaine plus tôt par le préfet des Alpes-Maritimes.

Singularité de l'affaire : le représentant de l'État qui ordonne son internement est aussi son… patron. Éric Dabène travaille, en effet, à la Direction des territoires et de la mer rattachée à la préfecture de Nice. « Travaillait » conviendrait mieux : l'intéressé a été suspendu de ses fonctions à titre conservatoire, le 7 avril dernier, en attendant de comparaître en conseil de discipline. En conflit ouvert avec sa hiérarchie, il avait déposé une plainte contre son supérieur pour « harcèlement moral », le 5 juillet dernier ». Le « point de départ » de tous ses déboires, selon lui.
