Sam Ballard, un joueur de rugby australien, a alors 19 ans. Pour "relever un défi" lors d'un barbecue entre amis, ce dernier décide d'avaler une limace. Mais, porteur d'un parasite appelé l'Angiostrongylus cantonensis, le gastéropode plonge alors le jeune homme dans un profond coma.

Après 8 ans d'agonie et de séjours à l'hôpital, Sam Ballard, dorénavant âgé de 28 ans, a finalement succombé à cette maladie.

Une limace d'Australie en + mais faudrait apprendre aux gosses dès la primaire que c'est mortel de bouffer des limaces ou des escargots crus
